We stayed at Nature Lodge for two nights and absolutely loved it. We almost canceled our reservations based on some bad online reviews but decided to give it a try anyway.

The hotel is under new management and has been remodeled, so I think you can disregard reviews prior to 2006. The setting is beautiful, the rooms are simple yet comfortable and clean, the staff is friendly and the food is excellent. It is a much nicer setting than staying in Montezuma, which is quite noisy and busy. We took advantage of the horseback riding excursion and would highly recommend it. The horses are very well cared for. Overall the price is extremely reasonable, especially since it includes breakfast. We subsequently spent 5 days at the Marriott resort in Jaco and felt ripped off the entire time. We paid exorbitant rates for everything and yet we experienced none of the charm or authenticity that we found at Nature Lodge. It was the highlight of our trip.

I stayed 10 days there and it was my best time in costa rica.
It's absolutely fantastic there: nature pure! No traffic noise at all, just birds, monkeys and the sea at night.
I did several horse ridings with excellent provided horses, spectacular views and swimming on the way.
The owners and the whole staff are extremly friendly and helpful, the kitchen offers excellent mostly european food. Also the breakfast is superb.
Go there, you will not regret it.

Recommended!
Planned a 1 or 2 nights stay, and ended up 3 nights, just resting and enjoying the place- hardly ever taking the trouble to visit busy Montezuma.
There is indeed a new, enthusiastic management (a German and Costa-Rican partners) who turned this place to a lovely intimate spot with a lot of personal care for the guests.
The lodge is not on the beach. You can see the sea far beyond the forest that surrounds the place, filled with monkeys, birds, butterflies etc etc.
Our room was big and convenient. (there are about 4 of this kind and the rest are smaller) The large balcony facing the open view- a real treat. Pity there is no AC, but with open windows at night, it was OK.
Great kitchen produces high level European style meals.
The small pool - a real pearl - the best place to cool off with a drink surrounded by all that green.
Had a real good horse riding trip from the lodge.

This hotel is a small, wonderfully decorated, well-kept place with wonderful people. Without exception, from the owners, to the managers, to the cooks, this place oozed with personal attention and friendliness, making my wife and I want to stay for as long as we could.
Importantly, we found that hotel prices in the Montezuma area are priced far higher than those in other parts of Costa Rica, and we were initially surprised at the price tag. However, the Nature Lodge is truly the best value for the money and was well worth it.
I would say, however, as I did to the hotel managers, that screens on the doors and windows are necessary. Since the place does not have AC (you may or may not feel that this is necessary, we personally did, but understand the hotel's philosophy on this matter) everything remains open. This is a wonderful feeling and experience, hearing and feeling the nature all around. However, many uninvited insects made themselves welcome in the room.
I would strongly comment that although the screen issue is important, DO NOT let that keep you from visiting this gem of a hotel. You will not regret your stay here.

I was there for several nights and I think it is an enthusiastic place.
The hotel is located in the middle of the nature, framed of wonderful plants and animals.
Woke up in the morning and saw monkeys close to the window of my room having breakfast.
There is also an excellent restaurant. The people are great, very friendly and they always look that you get the best service. It is really a good combination of being in the nature and to be in a hotel where you feel at home.
