I am German and live since 16 years in Costa Rica, because I felt in love with the nice country. Since many years, I run a small family hotel "Casa Talamanca" in Playa del Coco.
My house is located only a few hundred yards from the beach of the Pacific Ocean. This north west part of Costa Ricas belongs to the province of Guanacaste, about 150 miles from the capitol San José.
For the first night upon arrival, we recommend a one night stay at Pension Valle del Sol owned by a friend and located only 10 miles from the airport. He will pick you up and take care of your transport to Playa del Coco the next day.
You live here quiet and peaceful - without noise. Besides Playa del Coco, you can reach further famous beaches of Costa Rica (Flamingo, Tamarindo, Hermosa) in a very short time. An ideal location for tours and to go sightseeing in Guanacaste. Many impressing beaches, Volcan Miravalles, Cano Negro Reserve, Volcan and lake Arenal...not much rain all year round with temperatures of about 90 Fahrenheit.
I own a VW-van and can arrange tours on request. I know all tourist places and also several secrets because I live since 16 years in the country!
Guanacaste provides most sun in Costa Rica. If you don´t mind rain in the afternoon, it does not matter at all which month you come. Only if you insist on having no rain, we have to recommend you to come from December to April. Also November, May, June, July and August are good months. Just September and October should be prevented then and even during this time, mornings are sunny.
