Parks and Gardens

  • Garden Lankaster (El Jardin Botanico Lankester)
Located in the province of Cartago, we find the most beautiful garden of orchids in  Costa Rica. It was found in 1940 from the English nature scientist Charles. The private property of more than 10 hectares shows you 800 different species of orchids from all parts of the world. Because several species do not grow in the stable climate in the area of about 68 Fahrenheit, they also built a hothouse. Guided tours of about 1 hour are offered from 8.30 am to 3.30 pm. You can also walk through the park without a guide. Best time to visit is from March to May.

  • Park Franzisco Alvardo in Zarcero
If your drive from San José to Ciudad Quesada and to La Fortuna, you will pass the village of Zarcero on the highest point of the mountain (about 5400 feet).

  • Parque Central
Oldest park of San José, located near the "Cathedral Metropolitana". Lost importance today.
