Costa Rica

The Country Costa Rica is a small country located between Nicaragua and Panama and is the oldest democracy in Central America.

Although the entire country is only 19,530 square miles (about the size of West Virginia). Costa Rica is a unitary, multiparty republic and it consists of around 3,5 million Spanish-speaking inhabitants. It is a calm and peaceful country; the army was abolished in 1948.

Costa Rica has between 500'000 and one million different species of plants and animals, 50'000 species of insects, more species of butterflies than the continent of Africa, 850 species of birds, more than 1200 varieties of orchids, two cloud forests, several primary rain forests, numerous active volcanoes and coral riffs.

The Pacific forms the western and the Caribbean forms the eastern boarder to complete the beauty of this country. Many national parks protect the unique opportunities to observe the flora and fauna.
The climate is tropical and temperatures range from 60 degrees to 92 degrees Fahrenheit (21 to 32 degrees Celsius).

Ecotourism has long been one of the country's primary sources of economy, followed by the export of agricultural products like coffee, banana, sugar, fruits, vegetables, ornamental plants, and meat. Costa Rica has got a very good health and educational system. 92 % of the costaricans can read and write, with this fact it is one of the leading countries of the american continent.
